Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 13, 2026
Overview
AlgoTrainer ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that filters YouTube feed videos based on user-defined niches and keywords. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Data Collection
AlgoTrainer does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
The Extension does not:
- Collect personally identifiable information (PII)
- Track your browsing activity
- Send any data to external servers
- Use analytics, telemetry, or tracking tools
- Store cookies or use fingerprinting
- Access your YouTube account or Google credentials
Data Stored Locally
The Extension stores the following data locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.local):
- Your selected niches and custom keywords
- Whitelisted and blocklisted channels
- Filtering history (titles of filtered/kept videos)
- Extension settings (threshold, preview mode, language preference)
- License key (if you purchased the Pro plan)
This data never leaves your browser. It is not transmitted to any server, third party, or external service.
YouTube Content Access
The Extension reads video titles, channel names, and metadata displayed on the YouTube homepage in order to determine whether videos match your selected niches. This information is processed locally in real-time and is never stored beyond the current browsing session (except for the filtering history feature).
Third-Party Services
AlgoTrainer does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms.
License Verification
If you purchase a Pro license, the license key is verified through Gumroad's API. Only the license key itself is sent for verification — no personal data, browsing data, or usage data is transmitted.
Permissions
The Extension requires the following browser permissions:
- Host permission (youtube.com): To inject the content script that reads and filters videos on the YouTube feed.
- Storage: To save your preferences and settings locally.
- Tabs: To detect when you navigate to YouTube so the content script can activate.
Children's Privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13 years of age, as it does not collect any data from any user.
Changes to This Policy
